BIOGRAPHY
Alex Reuben was a DJ in the pioneering London nightclubs, Those Rhumba Nights and A Night in Havana. His DJ’ing influences his films which combine dance, music, politics and painting and appear in art galleries, on TV and at International Film Festivals.
He has been commissioned by Arts Council England, Sadlers Wells Theatre London, Channel 4 Television and received nominations for Best British Short Film with screenings at the ICA and the Cinematheque, Paris.
From 2003 – 2007 Reuben was Head of Post Graduate Dance for the Screen at London Contemporary Dance School, The Place. He is currently a lecturer at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and Camberwell College of Arts.
In 2008 Reuben was South East Dance for Camera Artist in Focus at the British Dance Edition, Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008, featured artist at Moves 2008 dance film festival, Manchester, UK and is a British Council, Artist Links, Artist in Residence in Brazil.
